19-year-old Carl Jones dies one day after being shot multiple times near his home in Marquette Park

Carl A. Jones, a 19-year-old college student, died one day after he was shot repeatedly Thursday afternoon in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Jones was standing outside at 2:09 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Kedzie when someone walked up, fired several shots, then ran away, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jones was shot in the head, chest, and shoulder, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.

Jones, who lived on the same block where he was shot, died at Christ at 6:15 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

He was a student at the Kennedy-King College Transfer Station.
