Darren Smith was shot to death Sunday night in the his home in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.
About 11:45 p.m., officers arrived in the 8100 block of South Ellis and found the 45-year-old Smith unresponsive inside a home, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Police did not have additional information about the shooting, but Area South detective are conducting a homicide investigation.
