Man who died three days after being shot on North Side identified as 21-year-old Umair Ullah

A man who died three days after being shot early Sunday on the North Side has been identified as Umair Ullah.

Officers responded about 1:40 a.m. Jan. 8 to a call of a person shot in an alley in the 5600 block of North Western, according to Chicago Police. They found the 21-year-old lying in the alley with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to Chicago Police.

Ullah was taken in critical condition to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 1700 block of West Highland Avenue.

An autopsy Friday showed he died of a gunshot wound to the face, and his death was ruled a homicide.
