Diamond Woods shot to death during argument in Austin, just 10 days after his 21st birthday

A young man who died Friday afternoon after being shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side has been identified as Diamond Woods, who passed away just 10 days after his 21st birthday.

Woods was outside when he got into an argument with someone about 4 p.m. in the 600 block of North Central, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Someone then started shooting, striking the victim several times.

Woods was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds. He lived in the 7400 block of South Phillips.

Diamond had just made 21 years old” and was a “family man” who full of “joy and laughter” and whose smile would brighten up a room, the page said.
