Man shot to death in Little Village drive-by identified as 34-year-old Ramon Valdez

A man who was killed in a shooting Thursday night that left a second man wounded in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side has been identified as 34-year-old Ramon Valdez.

Valdez and a 36-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk at 9:23 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Homan when a black SUV approached and someone inside fired shots, Chicago Police said.

Valdez was shot in the chest and back, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3300 block of West 64th Place in Chicago Lawn.

The older man was struck in the leg and was also taken to Mount Sinai, where he was listed in good condition.
