Willie Cook was killed and another man wounded in a shooting early Saturday at a nightclub in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago Police.
Just before 3 a.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 5000 block of South Ashland found the 23-year-old Cook in the Palestine club with a gunshot wound to his back, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The medical examiner’s office spelled his name Cooks.
Cook was a father of one son who lived in the Roseland neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 a.m.
Officers also found a 28-year-old man who had run away from the shooting with a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
