John Gonzalez was killed and two other men were wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, and police say witnesses are not cooperating with investigation.

About 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 4500 block of South Wood, Chicago Police said.

Officers found Gonzalez, 36, who lived in the same block, with a gunshot wound to his head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was being put into a vehicle by several friends, police said. He was transported to the University of Illinois Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:43 a.m.

A 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old man who were also wounded in the shooting took themselves to Stroger Hospital, police said. The older man was shot in both legs and the younger man in his right hand. They were both in good condition.

Witnesses were being uncooperative with investigators and no one was in custody, police said.
