The 26-year-old was found shot to death Thursday afternoon in her apartment in the South Shore neighborhood.

Calvin was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head in her apartment in the 7500 block of South Luella at 12:06 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Calvin, who attended Dunbar and Julian high schools, was four months pregnant when was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:27 p.m., authorities said.

Police had been called to the building Wednesday night after a neighbor reported hearing possible gunshots inside the apartment.

However, police left after no one answered the door. A police source said officers cannot force entry into a home unless someone’s life is in immediate danger, and there was no sign of that in this case.

Calvin worked as a cashier at a neighborhood Burger King.

Her death was one of eight fatal shootings in the South Shore neighborhood in a period of about 24 hours from Wednesday night though Thursday night.

No arrests had been made in any of those cases as of Friday morning.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel had harsh words for the shooter or shooters.

“There is a level of evil and depravity about an individual [who] would shoot a pregnant woman,” the mayor said.

“Now, there are other people [who] I believe … opportunity and jobs will make a difference in their life. For the people that did what they did yesterday…there’s only one place for them,” the mayor stold reporters. “They do not belong in our society, they do not belong in our city and they do not belong on the streets. They belong behind bars.”
