Tashika Manuel-Dunbar was talking to her boyfriend early Wednesday in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side when a vehicle drove by and someone started shooting.
The 35-year-old had just returned to her car at 2:44 a.m. in the 9700 block of South Morgan when another vehicle approached and shots were fired, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
It may have been a case of mistaken identity, according to family members.
Manuel-Dunbar suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and torso, and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:15 a.m., authorities said.
The Prosser Career Academy graduate lived in west suburban Forest Park.
Her boyfriend, who was in another vehicle, was not injured.
