Ex-boyfriend fatally shoots ‘Chiquita’ Goodman, then takes his own life inside her Bronzeville apartment

Tiara Goodman, better known to friends as Chiquita, was found shot to death on Memorial Day in her South Side Bronzeville neighborhood, along with her ex-boyfriend, who authorities say killed her before taking his own life.

Goodman, 25, and the 32-year-old man were found about 10:50 a.m. in the hallway of an apartment building in the 2900 block of South State Street in the Dearborn Homes housing project, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The medical examiner’s office has not released the man’s name, saying family has yet to be notified. But friends and family members have identified him as Marcel Davis.

Both had been shot in the head and were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A gun was recovered at the scene.

Autopsies Tuesday ruled Goodman’s death a homicide, and the man’s death a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office. Goodman lived on the same block as the shooting.

Goodman was a studying Fashion Design at The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago.
