Vajah’ Ringgold shot to death during argument on the block where he lived in Englewood

Young father Novajah “Vajah” Ringgold was shot to death Saturday morning on the block where he lived in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Ringgold, 21, was arguing with another man about 11:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of South Throop, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

At some point, the other man pulled out a handgun and shot Ringgold in the head and torso, authorities said. The shooter then ran away.

Ringold was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

Ringgold was a father, but it was not clear how many children he had. He lived on the same block where he was killed.
