Louis “Sticks” Chamness was killed in a shooting while driving in the Belmont Central neighborhood Friday evening on the Northwest Side.
About 6:45 p.m., the 21-year-old Chamness was driving in the 5700 block of West Belden, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
People in a dark-colored car fired shots at his vehicle, and Chamness was struck in the chest.
His car then slammed into a parked car and flipped onto its side, police said.
Chamness was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died at 7:28 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the Belmont Gardens neighborhood.
Chamness, a father of three who worked as a caprenter, had attended Kelvyn Park High School. He was known to friends as “Sticks.”
No one was in custody for the killing as of Monday morning.
