David Marin, who once moved away from the city’s violence, killed in drive-by shooting in Brighton Park

David Marin man was shot to death Friday night in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Family members said Marin, a father of one, had moved to Colorao to get away from the violence in the city, but after returning for a family event, had moved back to the area.

The 26-year-old was standing on the sidewalk about 10:20 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Washtenaw, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A silver SUV went past and someone inside fired shots at him, police said.

Marin was struck several times and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities said he lived in Marquette Park, but a family member said he lived in southwest suburban Joliet. He had come into the city to get a haircut the night he was killed.

A GoFundMe page set up to help his family with expenses had raised more than $3,100 in just one day.

The creator of the page wrote: “David had an impact in EVERYONE’S life. He had his own unique bond with all of us individually! We all gained an angel and have to be strong. He definitely was the BEST FATHER FRIEND BROTHER AND SON.”
