15-year-old Alex Gonzalez of Bolingbrook fatally shot while riding in vehicle in Humboldt Park

Fifteen-year-old Alex Gonzalez of southwest suburban Bolingbrook was killed in a shooting Sunday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

At 12:17 a.m., the teen was a passenger in a vehicle heading north in the 1000 block of North Sacramento, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone fired in a black sedan fired shots, and Gonzalez was struck multiple times in the back of his head, authorities said.

Gonzales was taken to Norwegian American Hospital and then transferred to Stroger Hospital. He died there about nine hours later at 9:40 p.m., authorities said.

No one is in custody.

Gonzalez had just compelted 8th grade and would have been a freshman at Bolingbrook High School in the fall.
