Michael Peterman shot to death by man he invited into his home in Heart of Chicago

Michael Peterman was shot to death by an invited guest Tuesday night at his home in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 28-year-old Peterman invited an acquaintance to his home about 10:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of West 18th Place, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

At some point, the male guest pulled out a gun and shot Peterman in the abdomen before running away, authorities said.

Peterman was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

No one was in custody as of Thursday.
