18-year-old Tayvion ‘Tay’ Roberson of Oak Lawn killed, second man wounded in Marquette Park shooting

Tayvion Roberson was killed and another man was seriously wounded in a Marquette Park neighborhood shooting Saturday night on the Southwest Side.

The 18-year-old known as “Tay” was standing on the sidewalk with a 56-year-old man at 9:41 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Artesian, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A male suspect walked up, pulled a gun and opened fire, police said.

Roberson was shot in the back and chest, and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m., authorities said.

A Bogan High School graduate, Roberson lived in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, authorities said.

The older man suffered a gunshot wound to the side of his body and was listed in serious condition at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
