Remus Campbell was killed and two other people were wounded in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.
Campbell, 32, was in the group standing outside about 4:30 a.m. on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of North Ashland, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A Ford SUV drove past and someone inside fired shots in their directio, police said.
Campbell was shot in the neck and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m., authorities said. He lived a few blocks away in the same neighborhood as the shooting.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the left hip and a 23-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, police said. They were also taken to Saint Francis, where their conditions were stabilized.
