Anthony White was killed early Sunday in a drive-by shooting in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
About 3:05 a.m., the 30-year-old White 30 was in the 500 block of North Leclaire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An SUV drove past and someone inside shot him in the chest, police said.
White was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died about 40 minutes later, authorities said. He lived in the Southwest Side Lawndale neighborhood.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
White’s cousin, who put up the page, wrote of White: “Anthony was a kindhearted, loving and positive individual who put a smile on everyone’s face. We are all in disbelief that he has left us so soon, leaving behind beautiful daughters, whom he adored.”
Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
