Stephen J. McCray, who performed rap under the name stage name Busta Reckless, was shot to death near his home in the South Chicago neighborhood Saturday evening.
The 25-year-old McCray was standing outside his home at 5:54 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Manistee, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Someone came up and fired shots, striking McCray in the chest, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m.
McCray rapped under the name Busta Reckless. Someone on his facebook page wrote that he “was one talented driven man, trying to make it in the industry with little support.”
Area South detectives are investigating.
