Trayvon Wilson may have only been 20 years old, but that never held him back from knowing what he wanted and accomplishing his goals. With a relentless determination and a passion for working hard, he lived by his own motto – “boss up!”
“He was driven. He was the person who wanted the finer things in life,” D’andre Wilson said about his younger cousin. “He was a hard worker and it paid off for him. He wanted it the legit way.”
“Boss up” means to keep working hard to make money and staying on the grind.
Wilson was a family man from a young age. He wanted to keep his relatives together by making a bigger family and taking care of everyone, according to his cousin.

Antoine Johnson was shot to death early Sunday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
Johnson, 31, was shot in the back at 2:18 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Van Buren, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1900 block of South Homan.
Police could not provide further details about the shooting.

Alfonso R. Kyles was found with a fatal gunshot wound Sunday morning on the Near West Side.

Kyles, 31, was found on the sidewalk about 3 a.m. just south of the entrance to Touhy-Herbert Park in the 2100 block of West Adams Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The shooting occurred a half block west of Chicago Bulls College Prep.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:13 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Kyles lived in the 4900 block of North Humboldt.
Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

David McCray was killed and his 6-year-old niece was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon as they took part in a water balloon fight in the Park Manor neighborhood.
They were outside near McCray’s home in the 6800 block of South Calumet playing in a neighborhood water balloon fight. Then, someone walked up and started shooting around 2:30 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A bullet struck McCray in the chest and a stray round hit the girl in the back of the head, authorities said.
McCray, 22, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he died at 2:49 p.m., authorities said.

Louis Carrasquillo was killed and a woman injured in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Friday night.

About 11:35 p.m., the 30-year-old Carrasquillo and a 26-year-old woman were driving east in the 3300 block of West North Avenue, authorities said. While they were stopped at a red light, another car pulled up next to them and a suspect shot them.
Carrasquillo was shot in the head, and the woman in the left leg, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, where Carrasquillo died at 12:02 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. He lived in the 4800 block of West Wellington.
The woman’s condition was stabilized, police said. No one was in custody for the shooting Monday morning.

A man killed in a shooting early Thursday in Gresham that left two other people wounded has been identified as 50-year-old
Winston Delaney.
Just before 2 a.m., the three victims were inside a vehicle in the 8000 block of South Marshfield when someone walked up to them at a stop sign and opened fire, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then ran away.
Delaney was shot in the back and forearm, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 2:42 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived just two blocks away from the shooting scene in the 8100 block of South Justine.
A 33-year-old man was shot in the right forearm, and a 59-year-old woman in the hip and back. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized, police said.
The crime scene was taped off on West 78th from South Marshfield to South Paulina. A dark-colored Chrysler minivan could be seen on the north side of West 78th with the driver’s and passenger’s doors open as officers with flashlights and cameras searched inside.

Police investigate a shooting in the 2900 block of West 82nd Street Sunday morning which killed the son of a Chicago Police officer. | NVP News
Arshell Dennis III, the son of a Chicago Police officer and an aspiring journalist, was shot and killed outside his home in the Wrightwood neighborhood early Sunday in an attack that also left another man.
Dennis, 19, was sitting outside the family home in the 2900 block of West 82nd Street with a 20-year-old man a few minutes after midnight when a male approached and started shooting, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Dennis, the son of Officer Arshell (Chico) Dennis Jr., was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at Little Company of Mary Hospital at 12:45 a.m., authorities said. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.
The 20-year-old was shot in the arm and chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

Yanong Woods was killed and a 10-year-old boy was wounded in a Saturday afternoon shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
Just after 1 p.m., the 27-year-old Woods was standing outside in the 3800 block of West Madison when a gunman walked up and shot him in the chest, knee and thigh, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Woods, known to friends as Boddie Sosa or Hue’Heff Woods, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 1:35 p.m. He lived in the 3100 block of West Huron.
A 10-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in the shooting and was taken to Stroger in good condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
No one was in custody for the attack.

Abner B. Garcia, a 23-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was shot to death during a confrontation with gang members in the West Elsdon neighborhood early Saturday.

Garcia was driving south in the 5200 block of South Pulaski about 1:40 a.m. when a van pulled alongside him, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Someone inside the van flashed gang signs, and began arguing with Garcia. Then someone else in the van opened a door and shot Garcia in the head, authorities said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 5:45 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5400 block of South Luna, about a mile from where he was shot.
A graduate of Curie Metropolitan High School, Garcia attended UIC and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He was an Army soldier who served at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Anchorage. He worked at Avant Creidt Corp. in Chicago and volunteered as a personal development mentor at the YMCA.
No one was in custody for the shooting as of Saturday afternoon.

A north suburban motorcyclist has been charged more than a year after a West Rogers Park neighborhood crash that left his passenger, 23-year-old
Lauren Lohan, dead in West Ridge.
Paul M. Szydlowski, 32, faces one felony count of reckless homicide for the July 20, 2015, crash in the 7300 block of North Western Avenue, Chicago Police announced Friday night.
About 1:15 p.m. that afternoon, Szydlowski was “weaving in and out of lanes carelessly” while driving a Harley-Davidson north on Western, police allege. He drove eventually into oncoming traffic and slammed into a Toyota Camry, police said.
