Jonathan Neal was shot dead on a Chatham neighborhood sidewalk Monday afternoon on the South Side.
Police responding to a report of shots fired found Neal, 23, dead on a sidewalk in the 8300 block of South Ellis Avenue about 3:15 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
Neal was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was declared dead about an hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His home address was not immediately available.
A Tuesday autopsy determined Neal died of a gunshot wound to the torso and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Area South detectives are investigating.
