A man charged with the fatal shootings of Richard Rodriquez and Jossean Rueda last summer in the West Side Austin neighborhood was ordered held without bond Sunday.

Jose Ortiz, 31, faces two counts of first-degree murder for the June 7, 2015, shootings, according to Chicago Police.

About 3:50 a.m., Rodriquez and Rueda, both 19, were driving in the 1600 block of North Cicero when a light-colored vehicle pulled alongside them and someone inside fired shots, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said at the time.

They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, authorities said. Rodriquez lived in the 2300 block of North Keeler, and Rueda in the 1100 block of North Harding.

Ortiz, of the 4100 block of North Francisco, was ordered held without bond Sunday and is next scheduled to appear in court Monday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
