Wondale Collier killed, two women injured in shooting in East Garfield Park

Wondale Collier was killed in a shooting near a party early Sunday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood that also left two women wounded.

Officers responding about 1:30 a.m. to a call of a shots fired in the 700 block of North Ridgeway found two people with gunshot wounds. Both said they heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

Collier, 55, was shot twice in the chest; and a 35-year-old woman was shot in the left leg, authorities said.

Collier, of the 700 block of North Lawndale, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:09 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The woman’s condition was stabilized at Stroger Hospital, police said.

Another woman, 19, later showed up at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the ankle, police said. She was listed in good condition.
