Othijah Mooney fatally shot during domestic incident in her Roseland home, and police have taken a man into custody

A man was taken into custody after Othijah M. Mooney was shot to death during a domestic dispute early Monday in the Roseland neighborhood.

Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to a call of a person shot at a home in the 100 block of West 112th Place. They found the 35-year-old Mooney with a gunshot wound to her head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Mooney, known as Otha, lived in the home and was pronounced dead there at 12:55 a.m., authorities said.

Police said the shooting was domestic in nature, and a 43-year-old man has been taken into custody. Charges were pending as of Monday morning.
