Two men try to rob, then fatally shoot Luis Corona in Archer Heights

Luis Corona was shot to death Saturday night by two men who tried to rob him in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Corona, 19, was in a parked vehicle at 8:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Karlov when two male suspects announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He tried to escape but was shot in the chest, and then crashed his vehicle into two parked vehicles at the end of an alley, police said.

Corona, who lived in the 6100 block of South Moody, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 p.m., authorities said.
