63-year-old Joe Lacasto dies a month after being stabbed during a robbery near his home in Canaryville

On Oct. 16, 63-year-old Joe Lacasto was stabbed during a robbery a couple of blocks away from his home in the Canaryville neighborhood on the South Side. On Monday night, he died from those injuries.

Lacasto was stabbed during a robbery in the 600 block of West 43rd Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He later walked into Stroger Hospital with multiple stab wounds. Lacasto died there at 5:35 p.m. Monday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

He lived less than two blocks from the robbery scene in the 4300 block of South Emerald.
