A 52-year-old man was shot to death in an alley in the South Side Back of Yards neighborhood Friday evening.
Victor Carrillo was shot in the chest as he sat in a parked car at 8:15 p.m. in an alley off the 4400 block of South Marshfield, authorities said.
Carrillo, a Back of Yards resident, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at at 8:52 p.m.
A fundraiser page was set up by a relative. The author of the page wrote that Carrillo “was the light of our life, the laughter of our family, he was the glue that held us together.”

Shocked by the death of Cynthia Trevillion, a longtime Chicago teacher who was killed by a stray bullet Friday night in Rogers Park, her North Side community is looking to honor her memory.
The 64-year-old Trevillion was walking with her husband to meet friends for dinner. They were only about four blocks from home when they were caught in gang crossfire about 6:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of North Glenwood, authorities said.
Someone in a dark-colored SUV opened fire on two juveniles standing on the street near the CTA’s Morse Red Line station, according to Chicago Police.
Trevillion was struck in the neck and head, and died after being taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Sharrod L. Peoples was fatally shot Friday afternoon in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
Peoples and another man, both 26, were sitting in a car at 3:57 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots in the 8000 block of South California, according to Chicago Police.
Peoples was shot multiple times in the body and the other man was shot in the bicep, police said.
They were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where Peoples was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The other man’s condition was stabilized, police said.
Peoples had a two-year-old son and was described as a “kind, loyal, family oriented man,” according to a fundraiser page dedicated to him.
Fifty-five-year-old Sylvester Duarte was beaten to death Thursday at his home on the Northwest Side, and his 33-year-old son has been charged with his murder.

Carlos Duarte was charged late Friday with first-degree murder for the death of his father, who was found dead at 10:18 p.m. in his apartment in the 2900 block of North Gresham Avenue, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Sylvester Duarte died from blunt force head injuries suffered in an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office. Both father and son lived in the apartment where the assault occurred.
Prosecutors allege Carlos Duarte, a gang member, he choked and beat his father, then struck him over the head several times with a dumbbell. The two had been arguing over the younger Duarte drawing gang signs in the apartment.
A police source said the incident was domestic-related, and the younger Duarte may have suffered from mental issues.
Carlos Duarte was denied bond at a hearing Saturday, according to Cook County sheriff’s office records. He was scheduled appear in court again on Tuesday.
Andres Pina of southwest suburban Palos Hills was shot to death early Thursday in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The 24-year-old Pina was sitting inside a vehicle at 3:47 a.m., picking up a friend in the 4900 block of South Komensky, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The friend told investigators that he heard shots from outside and went out to find his friend unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Pina, who lived in Palos Hills, had been shot in the neck, and pronounced dead at the scene at 3:54 a.m., authorities said.
Dionysus English was shot to death Wednesday night on the Near West Side.
Officers responding to calls of shots fired about 8:30 p.m. found the 28-year-old English shot multiple times in the 100 block of South Western, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
English was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood.
At least 14 people died from violence the week of Oct. 2-8, including 13 people who died from gunfire, and an infant whose death is being investigated as a homicide by assault.
The one-month-old baby, identified as Toriella Turpin, was found unresponsive Saturday morning by police in the South Shore neighborhood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Officers responded about 6 a.m. to the 6700 block of South East End for an unresponsive infant. Toriella was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she died at 6:42 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy Sunday found the girl died of blunt force injuries of the head from an assault, and the death was ruled a homicide.
The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services said it was investigating the girl’s death, along with police.

A 30-year-old man was shot to death Sunday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood. Oscar Carter was standing outside of a vehicle at 7:26 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Mason when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He was struck multiple times in the chest, and the vehicle drove off after the shooting, authorities said. Carter, of the West Garfield Park neighborhood, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he died 30 minutes later.
An man has been charged with fatally shooting 19-year-old Korry Rogers last year in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Malik Williams, 22, faces one count of first-degree murder for shooting Rogers on Sept. 4, 2016, according to Chicago Police.
A few minutes after 6 p.m. that day, Williams and Rogers got into an argument, which included some pushing and shoving, near 52nd and Sangamon, Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Santini said at Williams’ bond hearing Wednesday.
Williams pulled out a semi-automatic handgun with an extended clip from his waistband and pointed it at Rogers, who was unarmed and turned to run away, Santini said. Williams opened fire, striking Rogers in the back. Read more

Deylion Lavell Spencer was killed and two other men were wounded in a Fernwood neighborhood shooting early Tuesday on the Far South Side.
The three men were sitting in a vehicle at 12:58 a.m. in the 200 block of West 107th Street when another man walked up and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, according to Chicago Police.
The victims drove to the 8600 block of South Halsted, where they flagged down an Illinois State Police trooper for help, police said.
The 22-year-old Spencer was shot in the back and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 1:43 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Spencer, who was known as “DeyDey,” lived in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood. The father of two had attended Bogan High School.
A 24-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen, while a 25-year-old man was shot in the arm, leg and buttocks, police said. They were also taken to Christ Medical Center, where they were listed in serious condition.
