The three were shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of North Lavergne about 11:40 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

Winford, 59, was shot in the right arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. Saturday, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 2200 block of South 14th Avenue in west suburban Broadview.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left leg and a 32-year-old man was shot in the left arm and leg, police said. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.

A woman who caused a crash that killed Carlos De Lourdes in Brighton Park tested positive for PCP and admitted she had been drinking before she got behind the wheel, Cook County prosecutors said Friday.

Authorities found three Grey Goose vodka bottles on the passenger floor of Tania A. Reyna’s car after Tuesday night’s deadly wreck, Assistant State’s Attorney Erika Gilliam-Booker said.

Reyna, 39, also told officers she had been drinking the alcoholic beverage Four Loko and fighting with her boyfriend before she slammed into De Lourdes’ car at 44th and California, according to her arrest report.

Reyna was traveling roughly 89 mph about 12:30 a.m. as she zipped south on California through a residential area, Gilliam-Booker said.

A man has been sentenced to 39 years in prison for stabbing April Dixon over 25 times in her South Side Douglas neighborhood apartment, where a janitor later found her “butchered” body, according to prosecutors.

Chandus Ousley, 32, was previously convicted of the “grisly” Sept. 21, 2013, murder of April Dixon, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Ousley entered the 24-year-old Dixon’s apartment in the 3500 block of South Rhodes and stabbed her a total of 28 times, prosecutors said.

Three days later, Dixon’s mother asked the janitor to check on her daughter because she had not shown up to work or answered her phone for days, prosecutors said.

Kendall Smith fatally shot just two blocks from his Roseland home

Kendall Smith was fatally shot just two blocks from his home in the Roseland neighborhood Friday night, Chicago Police said.

Smith, 22, of the 11200 block of South Indiana, was standing on the sidewalk in the 11200 block of South Michigan about 9:30 p.m. when he heard gunfire and felt pain, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 10:58 p.m., authorities said.

Officers responding at 10:35 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of West 106th Street found a 43-year-old man inside a home with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to Chicago Police.

The officers then discovered the 24-year-old Ross lying on the ground in the alley, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and back, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Ross, who lived a block away in the 300 block of West 105th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The older man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.

A family member said Ross died less than 100 yards from the spot where his older brother was shot to death several years ago.

18-year-old Kewan Gillespie fatally shot on porch in Lawndale

An 18-year-old man shot to death Wednesday afternoon in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood has been identified as Kewan Gillespie.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot found Gillespie with a gunshot wound to the back about 3:45 p.m. on a porch in the 3100 block of West Douglas Boulevard, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A police source said Gillespie and another man were sitting on a porch when a gunman approached and fired multiple times. It was not known who was the intended target.

Gillespie, of the 8500 block of South Aberdeen, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:59 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound to the back and ruled his death a homicide.

Amari Catchings remembered as peacemaker and family man who always wore a smile

Amari Catchings was only 18, but he was definitely a family man. “We got to stick together, no matter what,” his older brother, Joshua Rials, remembers him saying.

The youngest of three children, he was not a fan of arguing and was assigned the peacemaker role in his family. “He was the leader, a great leader,” his mother, Cristylist Rials, said.

On the day he died, Catchings was visiting a childhood friend, Dominic Gipson, whom he hadn’t seen since moving to Bloomington recently.

Police have released surveillance images of two men wanted for the shooting death of a Family Dollar store manager JQuinn McCune earlier this week and the armed robbery of another store last month.

McCune, 30, was working at the store in the 7900 block of South Ashland in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood when he saw someone inside stealing items about 5 p.m. July 5, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

When confronted, the shoplifter pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting McCune in the chest, police said. The shooter then ran away.

McCune, formerly of Flint, Michigan, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died, authorities said.

Mecahel Holder killed, two women wounded in shooting in Humboldt Park

Mecahel Holder was killed and two women were injured in a shooting early Tuesday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Holder, 34, was standing outside in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway talking to the two women, who were sitting in a parked vehicle at 1:35 a.m. He then got into an argument with a pair of males in the street, one of whom opened fire, authorities said.

Holder suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:44 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 2100 block of West 50th Place.

A 29-year-old woman was shot in the right shoulder and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Chicago Police said. The other woman, 31, was shot in the right hand, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Early Tuesday, Holder could be seen lying in the street among more than a dozen shell casings, near the remnants of Fourth of July fireworks.

Michael Griffin of Tinley Park fatally shot in South Shore

Michael Griffin of southwest suburban Tinley Park was shot to death on the Fourth of July in the South Shore neighborhood.

Officers responding about 9:20 p.m. Monday to a call of a traffic crash with injuries in the 6900 block of South Clyde found the 40-year-old Griffin lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Griffin, who lived in the 17500 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Tinley Park, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:23 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
