Kelly Burrell was killed and a man was injured in a shooting early Saturday in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.
Burrell, 23, and the 20-year-old man were on a porch in the 7300 block of South Green at 2:50 a.m. when a light-colored vehicle drove up and someone inside fired shots, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Devonte Dotson has been charged with the fatal shooting of Dennis Hoosier of Midlothian during a fight inside an apartment complex early Friday near O’Hare International Airport on the Northwest Side.
Dotson, 21, faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the 12:45 a.m. shooting in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
Dotson was identified as the person who shot 23-year-old Dennis Hoosier multiple times during a fight inside the apartment complex, authorities said.

Benson Collins was shot and killed in the West Side Austin neighborhood Friday morning, though police say he was not the shooter’s intended target.
Collins, 55, was walking in the 1000 block of North Leamington about 11 a.m. when someone in a black vehicle drove by and fired shots, striking him in the chest and arm, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Hoosier, 23, was shot several times about 12:45 a.m. following an altercation with another man, 22, inside an apartment complex in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr, according to police at the scene and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Abdula Tate of south suburban Dolton man was shot to death in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side early Friday.

About 1 a.m., the 38-year-old Tate was shot in the chest and abdomen in the 4200 block of South Calumet, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Tate, who lived in the 14600 block of Greenwood Road in Dolton, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the medical examiner’s office said.

A gang member already in custody for a 2012 murder is now the second person to be charged with robbing and killing 68-year-old Cayetano Sandoval as he was returning home from work in Logan Square in late 2013.

Mario Ortega, 20; and Joshua Johnson, 23, approached Sandoval after he parked his car in the 1900 block of North Spaulding Avenue around 2 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2013, coming home from his job at a bakery, according to Cook County court documents. Prosecutors said Ortega, also known as “King Krazy,” and Johnson are both Latin Kings.
Ortega ran up behind Sandoval and began to punch him repeatedly “without provocation” while Johnson held him down and went through his pockets, according to prosecutors. Witnesses reported hearing Sandoval screaming for help.

17-year-old Jeremy Salinas was shot to death while retrieving his stolen bicycle Wednesday night in the Bridgeport neighborhood, according to witnesses at the scene.
Salinas was shot about 8:35 p.m. in the 900 block of West 32nd Place, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Salinas, who lived in the 1200 block of West 31st Place, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:55 p.m., authorities said.

Ross, 35, was discovered about 7 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Aberdeen, shot several times in the head and chest, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Devonte Terry was shot to death early Wednesday near his home in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.
Terry, 20, was shot in the back and found unresponsive in the 5600 block of South Artesian at 12:44 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Police said the victim was 19.
Terry, who lived in the same block, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.
A pedestrian killed in a high-speed crash in the Chatham neighborhood in April that led to a man facing reckless homicide charges has been identified as an 18-year-old South Side woman.
Bria Hunter was walking in the 8700 block of South Lafayette on April 26 when a Volkswagen barreled through a red light at 90 mph and hit her, catapulting her 100 feet, authorities said.
