Joeann Smith pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Thursday for fatally shooting a 65-year-old man in 2014 during an argument about whether or not a gun would fire.

Smith, 54, was sentenced to 30 months probation for the Jan. 8, 2014, shooting in the 1700 block of East 72nd Street, court records show.

Joeann Smith and Willie Smith were arguing about whether or not a gun would fire when Joeann Smith pointed the weapon at the man’s face and fired, authorities said at the time.

Xavier Shannon planned to spend a Sunday afternoon with family, celebrating his sister’s wedding anniversary, relatives said.

Shannon, 32, was shot to death just hours before the party.

He had three children: Jeremiah, 10; Xavion, 6; and Destiny, 5, and a stepson, 3-year-old Zion. His sister, Delores Franks, said he worked tirelessly for all four children.

Last year, Shannon worked three jobs to support his family — two as a security guard, and one in concessions at Soldier Field, family said. Shannon had just reached his one year anniversary at Kates Security.

A Hazel Crest man was killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon in the Chatham neighborhood.

Odell Brown, 25, was standing in the 0-50 block of East 88th Street when a white van pulled up and a gunman inside opened fire about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Prosecutors: Joseph Thrane fatally shot Ruben Feliciano in Humboldt Park

Joseph Thrane was in a black Saturn SUV with fellow Latin Kings flashing gang signs before he gunned down Ruben Feliciano in the Humboldt Park neighborhood May 24, authorities said.

Feliciano, a car enthusiast, was driving around in his car while his three other friends followed in three separate vehicles, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Akash Vyas said.

The SUV that Thrane was in drove by the group and then partially blocked the path of the Feliciano’s car, which was leading the others, Vyas said.

Joshua Hargrow charged with murder in Edgewater shooting death of John Myles

Joshua Hargrow has been charged with murder in the Edgewater shooting death of 45-year-old John L. Myles in April 2014.

On April 19, 2014, Myles was shot multiple times as he was sat in a vehicle outside his apartment in the 1700 block of West Rosehill Drive about 11:30 a.m., authorities said.

Myles was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where died April 29, 2014, authorities said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Joshua Hargrow, 28, of the 700 block of North Dearbon Street, was arrested about 2 p.m. last Thursday and charged with first-degree murder in Myles death, authorities said.
