A Chicago teen being held in Iowa on a gun charge has now been charged with murder for the Auburn Gresham shooting death of Quentin A. Thompson this month.
Thompson, 27, was shot March 28 in the 8800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, authorities said. Thompson was paralyzed after the shooting and died April 3, prosecutors said.
Lamonte Morbley, 17, was being held in a Dubuque, Iowa, jail on a unrelated gun charge, prosecutors said.
While in the jail, Morbley made phone calls where he admitted to his involvement in the shooting after a drug deal went bad, prosecutors said. Read more

A third man has been charged with murder in the March shooting death of Edgar Muneton outside a Belmont Cragin Dunkin’ Donuts.
Alexander Gonzalez, 25, of the 11000 block of South Avenue B, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a controlled substance. He is expected to appear in bond court Sunday, police said.
Two brothers were previously charged with murder for the shooting.
Prosecutors said Stephon Gill got angry when rivals jumped a fellow Latin Styler gang member while the pal was with his child.
So Stephon and Erick Gill went into the Belmont Cragin Dunkin’ Donuts a few weeks later and killed one of the culprits, Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Karr said. Read more
Derrick Williams was ordered held on a $1 million bond Friday after prosecutors said he fatally shot Fabian Echevarria during an argument over drugs last month in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
On March 19, Echevarria was sitting in a parked car in front of his home on the 900 Block of North Mozart Street when Williams got into the vehicle and demanded a refund for marijuana Echevarria had sold him, prosecutors said. Read more
Jennifer Ponton was fatally shot in the Uptown neighborhood early Wednesday.
Ponton, 24, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the 4500 block of North Broadway when gunfire erupted about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. Read more

Shikita Woods was angry at her husband for moving out of their house after just three days of marriage and possibly fathering another woman’s child.
So when he jumped into his cousin’s car to escape her drunken rants Sunday morning, Woods followed behind in her red Pontiac and intentionally slammed into them on the South Side, authorities said.
Woods’ husband and cousin survived the crash in the 5500 block of South State Street.
But Brent Nelson, 53, who was standing on a sidewalk delivering newspapers at a nearby store, was killed when he was struck by a food truck Woods also hit, Cook County prosecutors said. Read more
Christopher Johnson was shot and killed in the Park Manor neighborhood Saturday night.
Johnson, 22, was inside a vehicle parked in the 400 block of East 72nd Street when two people walked up and one of them shot him multiple times about 8:40 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. Read more
