Man found shot to death in Park Manor alley identified as 21-year-old Emon Oneal

A man shot to death Monday morning in an alley the South Side Park Manor neighborhood has been identified as 21-year-old Emon S. Oneal.

Oneal was found at 9:13 a.m. Monday in an alley in the 6800 block of South Wabash, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

He lived in the South Side Oakland neighborhood.

21-year-old Jesus Menviola shot to death during argument in Austin

Jesus Menviola man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon while sitting in a car in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

About 4:40 p.m., the 21-year-old was a passenger in a car in the 1800 block of North Luna, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Menviola he got in an argument with someone who was on foot, and that person took out a weapon and fired shots, authorities said.

Menviola, who lived in the Logan Square neighborhood, was struck in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:41 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

28-year-old Deandre Smith found shot to death in Kenwood gangway

Deandre Smith was found shot to death Tuesday night in a gangway in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

Smith, 28, was found lying unresponsive at 6:37 p.m. in a gangway in the 5000 block of South Drexel, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Smith, who lived in the University Village neighborhood, had suffered gunshot wounds to his head and right side, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:57 p.m., authorities said.

15-year-old active church member Julio Cesar Garcia-Lara fatally shot while riding in back of SUV in West Lawn

Fifteen-year-old Julio Cesar Garcia-Lara was shot to death late Monday night while riding in the back of an SUV in the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 10:30 p.m., a white Dodge Charger started trailing a red Chevrolet Trailblazer in the 5900 block of South Pulaski, according to Chicago Police.

Someone in the Charger fired shots, and Garcia-Lara, who was sitting in the back of the SUV, was struck in the back and head, authorities said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He lived in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side and was a student and church member at St. Gall’s School and Parish in Gage Park.

Bruce Crosby killed, two teenagers wounded when gunman in SUV opens fire on vehicle in Lawndale

Bruce Crosby, known to friends as Koboy Savage, was killed and two teenagers were wounded Monday afternoon in a Lawndale neighborhood shooting on the West Side.

Crosby, 20; was sitting in a vehicle with a 17-year-old girl about 2:20 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Kildare, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.

Crosby, who lived about a block away, suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 3:21 p.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said.

The girl was shot in the abdomen, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

A 17-year-old boy, who was standing on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred, was also shot in the head, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition.

A police source said investigators do not believe the boy on the street was an intended target of the shooting.

Clancy Beasley of Bellwood found with fatal gunshot wounds in vehicle in West Garfield Park

Clancy Nate Beasley of west suburban Bellwood was killed Monday night in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 10:15 p.m. found the 39-year-old Beasley shot multiple times in a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Superior Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Beasley had suffered gunshot wounds to his head, back and arm, and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m., authorities said.

Police said a suspect may have driven away from the area in a white van. No one was in custody as of Wednesday morning.

Police: 18-year-old Dana Matthews fatally shot after shooting and trying to rob a man in Gresham

Authorities say Dana Matthews was shot and killed Monday night after shooting and trying to rob another man in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

A 39-year-old told police he was in the 8300 block of South Elizabeth at 8:15 p.m. when he was approached by the 18-year-old Matthews, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Matthews shot the older man in the abdomen, but the older man returned fire, striking the alleged robber twice in the legs and twice in the neck, police said.

Matthews, who lived in the Woodlawn neighborhood, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

The older man was also taken to Christ, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Area South detectives are waiting to interview the alleged victim, police said. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday morning.

So Reggie Taylor, the maintenance man, dropped a painter’s tarp over the crimson stains blotting the hallway carpet in the North Side apartment building where 12-year-old Alexis Stubbs lived—and where she was fatally beaten and stabbed on Sunday.

By Monday evening, authorities had charged an ex-boyfriend of the girl’s mother, John Singleton, with first-degree murder in Alexis’ death. Singleton, a 31-year-old convicted felon, was to appear in bond court Tuesday.

Singleton, court records show, had pleaded guilty to felony aggravated domestic battery for choking a woman in 2014. He had just been released from prison in April and was currently on parole. A police source said the victim in that case was Alexis’ mother.

Ivan Gutierrez killed, two men wounded, in drive-by shooting on block where he lived in Back of the Yards

Ivan Gutierrez was killed and two other men were wounded in a shooting early Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

Gutierrez, 19, was standing on the sidewalk with the other men, ages 22 and 33, at 3:13 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Seeley, according to Chicago Police an d the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone in a passing vehicle fired shots, striking them all three men in the body, police said.

Gutierrez, who lived on the block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The 22-year-old was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, while the oldest man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral and memorial expenses for Gutierrez.

“We lost a Father, a Son, an Uncle, and a Brother, as much as this hurts Ivan Gutierrez is no longer with us,” the page author wrote.

26-year-old Dontae Thomas shot to death on block where he lived in Lawndale

Dontae Thomas was shot to death early Sunday in on the block where he lived in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

At 5:07 a.m., the 26-year-old Thomas was standing in the 1400 block of South Avers when someone in a white vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Thomas was hit in the abdomen, and was taken to Stroger Hospital. He died there about two hours later at 7:05 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

He lived on the same block where he was killed.
