Tomorry Hill was fatally shot Friday afternoon in a drive-by in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 20-year-old Hill was walking at 4:53 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Laflin Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. A vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking Hill multiple times.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 5:39 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

A week that started out with three people being found with fatal gunshot wounds in a car parked on the South Side ended with only three more fatal shootings. And the death of a man who had been shot several months earlier brought the week’s death toll from Chicago violence to seven.

The three men were found Monday morning in a car parked illegally in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The bodies were found at 7:35 a.m. in an alley in the 8600 block of South Throop, according to Chicago Police. However, police said it was not known how long the bodies had been there.

Vogels T. Anderson Jr., 20, was shot in the head; Ryan Hamilton, 20, was shot in the neck; and Devontae Watson, 18, was shot multiple times, according to the Cook COunty medical examiner’s office.

Anderson and Watson lived in the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood, whiled Hamilton lived in south suburban Blue Island. Police said Hamilton had been reported missing the previous evening, and the bodies were found in his vehicle.

The Illinois Sabers minor league football team opened its 2016 season by celebrating a championship. This season will open on a more somber note: A special ceremony will honor one of its players, Cedric Adkins-Malone, who died five days after being shot outside his Far South Side home.

“He was one of our own,” Sabers general manager Dana Hutchinson said Thursday. “We are still in shock. He was a good kid, very respectful. He was a mama’s boy. He was like one of our kids.”

Things won’t be any easier for the boys basketball team at the Community Youth Development Institute. The team played in the semifinals of the Alternative Schools Network’s Final Four Wednesday, just hours after learning of the death of Adkins-Malone, a former player who helped out as an assistant coach.

“The boys struggled through, and you could tell their minds were elsewhere,” ASN assistant director Matrice Manuel said.”But they pulled it out somehow and will play for the championship Friday night.”

The 22-year-old Adkins-Malone was working on his car last week in front of his Rosemoor home when he was shot. Five days later, the popular local athlete, who also coached youth basketball, was dead.

He was outside working outside about 2:15 p.m. Friday, March 17, in the 10200 block of South Calumet when someone came out of a gangway across the street and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Shikita Woods | Illinois Dept. of Corrections

Shikita Woods, 35, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of aggravated DUI in an accident causing death before Judge Diane Cannon, according to Cook County court records. Charges of first-degree murder and reckless homicide were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.

Woods and her husband got into a drunken fight on the morning of April 12, 2015. Prosecutors said Woods was angry at her husband for moving out of their house after just three days of marriage and possibly fathering another woman’s child.

Her husband jumped into her cousin’s car and Woods followed in her red Pontiac. Woods, who had been drinking vodka for several hours, initially chased her husband and her cousin with her drinking buddy at her side around 3 a.m., prosecutors said.

Anthony W. Bills | Aurora Police

Anthony W. Bills, 39, was charged with five counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and one count of mob action, Aurora police announced Wednesday.

About 8:30 p.m. July 15, 2016, Bills and King were involved in a large fight at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Second Avenue in Aurora, police said. When officers arrived, King and others ran off. A short time later, King was seen by Bills and several other men involved in the fight and was beaten unconscious.

King was placed into the trunk of Bills’ 2002 Lincoln Continental, driven to Chicago, and dumped in the 4500 block of West End Avenue, police said. His body was found the next morning.

Devon Thomas | Cook County Sheriff’s Dept.

Devon Thomas, 22, appeared in court Tuesday on a first-degree murder charge for the death of Janylah, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. He was previously charged with murder and aggravated battery in November for the attack on his Tayveon and Tayveon’s then-pregnant mother.

Thomas punched Tayveon several times in front of the boy’s mother on Oct. 30, 2016, prosecutors said at his first bond hearing. When the 23-year-old woman tried to stop him, he allegedly choked her until she lost consciousness.

The next day, at the couple’s apartment in the 12000 block of South Green Street, Thomas punched Tayveon several times in the chest and torso, prosecutors said. He went on to stomp on the boy’s legs, arms and body with his boots.

Jamal Donerson | Chicago Police

Jamal Donerson, 24, faces felony counts of first-degree counts of murder and attempted murder for the Saturday night attack near his home in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth, according to Chicago Police.

About 10:45 p.m., Donerson opened fire on the 23-year-old Jackson and a 27-year-old man in the backyard of a home, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man was shot in the face. His condition was stabilized at Stroger, police said. They were among 18 people shot in Chicago over the weekend.

Donerson was ordered held without bond at a Tuesday hearing, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. His next court date is April 7.

A man who was shot to death Monday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side has been identified as 24-year-old Jason “Jrock” Barrett.

About 4:15 p.m., the 24-year-old Barrett was in the first block of East 113th Place when someone got out of a silver SUV and shot him in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Barrett, of the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 5 p.m., authorities said.

No one was in custody for the shooting.

Officers were called about 12:45 p.m. Jan. 26 to a report of a person down in the alley in the 6300 block of South Parnell, according to Chicago Police.

Woods, 30, of west suburban Westchester, was found dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said he suffered puncture wounds to his chest and hand; and it appeared the body had “been there for a considerable amount of time.”

Ishmael Jackson was killed and another man wounded in an Englewood neighborhood shooting Saturday night on the South Side.

Jackson was shot in the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:51 p.m., authorities said. He lived in south suburban Robbins.

The older man suffered a gunshot wound to the “face area,” and was also taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
