Gregory Thomas-Bell, 56, fatally shot while fighting with another man in Woodlawn

Fifty-six-year-old Gregory Thomas-Bell was killed in a shooting Saturday afternoon in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

Witnesses told police they saw Thomsa-Bell and another man get into a fight at 3:38 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Kenwood, according to Chicago Police. Then they heard a gunshot.

Thomas-Bell was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:47 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 4300 block of South Greenwood.

Aspiring pro wrestler and Batman fanatic Moises Gonzalez shot to death in Archer Heights attack

A Northwest Side man who loved wrestling and Batman, Moises Antonio Gonzalez was killed in a shooting that also left another man seriously wounded last week in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Gonzalez, 25, was standing in the street at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday in the 4100 block of West 47th Street with another man when a third man fired shots at them from a gangway, according to Chicago Police.

Gonzalez was shot in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at at 2:53 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 4700 block of West Shakespeare.

A 22-year-old man was also shot in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition, police said.

Eighteen-year-old Delvon Weston was shot to death Sunday afternoon while sitting in a parked vehicle in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

Weston was sitting in a vehicle at 2:03 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Marshfield when someone fired shots from a dark-colored SUV, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The SUV then drove away northbound on Marshfield.

Weston suffered several gunshots to the chest and took himself to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was pronounced dead there at 2:22 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the first block of East 101st Place.

Rickey King shot to death when gunman opens fire on group in East Garfield Park

Rickey J. King was shot to death Sunday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

At 1:52 p.m., the 37-year-old King was with a group when someone opened fire from across the the street in the 3800 block of West Adams, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then ran away southbound.

King, of the 8800 block of South Burley, was shot in the head, and was pronounced at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Erik Peoples shot to death on his birthday wounded, second man wounded in attack in Homan Square

Erik Peoples was killed on his own birthday, and another man was wounded when they were attacked by two gunmen in Homan Square neighborhood early Sunday on the West Side.

The men were sitting in a parked vehicle at 2:38 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Harrison. A silver car went past, stopped in front of them and two males wearing hooded sweatshirts jumped out. Both men then opened fire on the car, according to Chicago Police.

Peoples, 30, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 5900 block of North Sheridan.

The other man, 31, was shot in the right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

16-year-old Diego Alvarado shot to death on the block where he lived in Back of the Yards

Sixteen-year-old Diego Alvarado died Friday night, less than an hour after he was shot multiple times near his home in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

Alvarado was outside about 6:40 p.m. near his home in the 4800 block of South Throop when he heard gunfire and was hit in the back, groin and arm, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:32 p.m., authorities said.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.

Thomas Smith robbed and then fatally shot Friday afternoon in Englewood

After 24-year-old Thomas Smith was robbed Friday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police say the robbers shot him. He died about 2 1/2 hours later.

Two people walked up to Smith shortly before 2 p.m. in the 7300 block of South Lowe, demanded his things, and then shot him in the abdomen, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Smith died at Stroger Hospital at 4:30 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 9600 block of South Dobson.

A man was shot and killed by Chicago Police officers who saw him shoot two other people, killing Jeffery J. Banks early Friday in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side, according to police.

Harrison District officers heard gunfire while on patrol about 12:25 a.m. and saw someone standing over another person and firing a gun near the intersection of Harrison and Central Park Avenue, CPD First Deputy Supt. Kevin Navarro told reporters at the scene.

The officers got out of their squad car, “engaged the offender” and fatally shot him, according to Navarro, who said the person had shot two other people, one of whom died. The other was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.

A grandfather has been charged with the murder of his 2-month-old granddaughter, Katana Symone Greenlee, whom he was babysitting in his West Side Austin neighborhood home in July.

Roderick Pickett, 50, faces one count of first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

On July 22, Katana’s mother dropped her and her 1-year-old brother off at Pickett’s home to babysit for the weekend, prosecutors said.

Pickett lived with his wife in the first floor of an apartment in the 800 block of North Lawler, and his wife’s parents lived on the second floor, prosecutors said.

The next day, Pickett’s wife would leave periodically during the day to go upstairs to care for her mother, and Pickett was left alone with the baby, prosecutors said.

A 36-year-old man who allegedly stabbed three people, killing Zenan “Sonny” Hernandez, in a Chinatown apartment for transients was ordered held on a $2 million bond Wednesday.

Raul Gonzalez wielded a 10-inch blade, killing Hernandez, 51, and injuring two other men, Cook County prosecutors said during Gonzalez’s bond hearing.

At the time of the stabbings, Gonzalez was living in an apartment in the 200 block of West 23rd, prosecutors said. On Monday evening, he got in an argument with one of the men he would later allegedly stab.
