Belmont Cragin woman dies from injuries suffered in 2009 shooting

A Belmont Cragin neighborhood woman died Wednesday after a shooting four years ago.
Alicia Pinzon, 25, of the 5500 block of West Schubert Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9:50 a.m. at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Police News Affairs could not immediately provide information.

Body found wrapped in tarp inside West Garfield Park home

The death of a person whose body was found wrapped in a tarp inside a home in the West Garfield Park Monday afternoon has been ruled a homicide.

The body was found wrapped in a tarp inside of a closet in a home in the 4400 block of West Wilcox Street, a source said.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries resulting from a physical assault and ruled it a homicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

The age and gender of the unidentified person have not yet been determined, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The body was found about 5:06 p.m. Monday, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.

Man found shot dead in West Pullman home

A man was found shot dead in his West Pullman neighborhood home on the South Side Sunday morning.

The 56-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the 12200 block of South Aberdeen Street at 7:41 a.m., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but would not release identification pending family notification.

The man was previously shot in the abdomen at 4:40 a.m. last Monday at his home, Mirabelli said.

Both shootings are believed to be narcotic related, Mirabelli said.

Area South detectives are investigating.

Man shot dead in Morgan Park

A man is dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds Saturday in the South Side Morgan Park neighborhood.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found at 11:19 a.m. in a gangway at the rear of a building in the 11700 block of South Hale Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but would release identification pending family notification.

Area South detectives are investigating.

Man fatally stabbed in Grand Boulevard

A man was fatally stabbed early Friday in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

A friend found the 24-year-old man stabbed multiple times in an alley in the 4000 block of South Calumet Avenue at 12:40 a.m., police News Affairs Hector Alfaro said.

A 26-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday night in the West Englewood neighborhood.

The 26-year-old, who has not yet been identified, was walking down a sidewalk in the 1600 block of West 59th Street when a male gunman opened fire about 9:15 p.m., said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. Read more

A 53-year-old man was apparently stabbed to death by a family member following an argument Tuesday evening at a Northwest Side apartment the two shared, police said.

Man fatally shot in West Englewood

A man was shot to death in the West Englewood early Tuesday, police said.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head near 62nd Street and Ashland Avenue about 4:06 a.m., police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the man’s death.

Update: 5 wounded outside Uptown church

Five people were wounded Monday evening when a gunman opened fire on a group of people standing near a bus stop at a busy intersection in Uptown, police said.

They were shot at 5:57 p.m. at Sheridan and Wilson, authorities said. That corner is on a Chicago Public Schools “Safe Passage” route for schoolchildren.

Four were hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition and one was in good condition. A 21-year-old man was shot in the head and is in critical condition on life support, authorities said. Police initially reported that the man had died. Read more
