A 39-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday morning on the street in the South Side Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened in the 8700 block of South Throop Street about 9:20 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
The victim was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene, Mirabelli said.
After the shooting, two vehicles were seen fleeing from the scene, according to police.
No one was in custody as of late Wednesday morning.
Cheodis Young, 36, of the 100 block of South Carpenter Street was shot in the head about 12:05 p.m. Thursday in the 7300 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood and was dead on the scene, authorities said.

A 14-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side early Wednesday, police said.
Outside Banner Academy West High School, a young man lie dead beside a bicycle in the 5000 block of West North Avenue. The victim, Damani Henard, of the 1200 block of North Lombard Avenue in Oak Park, was shot multiple times, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The shooting occurred about 12:46 a.m. in the 5000 block of West North Avenue, police said. The boy was dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death early Friday.

A 19-year-old woman was killed Tuesday night when a gunman fired into a crowd in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.
The woman was identified as Ashley Hardmon, of the 4900 block of West Kammerling Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
She was standing outside in the 4800 block of West Potomac about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday when a shooter fired into a crowd, striking her in the head, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
According to witnesses at the scene, several people were walking south on Lamon Avenue when they opened fire on the group the woman was standing with.
She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Gaines said.
A woman who identified herself as the deceased’s mother declined to comment, only saying “It’s just got to stop. It’s just got to stop.”
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but could not provide additional details.
Area North detectives were investigating.
A newspaper street vendor was shot and killed Tuesday near a Dan Ryan Expy. off-ramp.
The man, believed to be in his 30s was in the 800 block of West 99th when he was shot about 5:50 a.m., said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
The man was selling food and Chicago Sun-Times newspapers to passing motorists at an intersection near the off-ramp, Mirabelli said. The Sun-Times contracts with an outside vendor for single-copy newspaper sales.
Two black males were seen fleeing the area after the shooting, Mirabelli said.
Further details were not immediately available as Area South detectives opened an investigation.
Terrance Graves, 23, of the 1300 block of Longford Circle in Elgin, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical EXaminer’s office.
A man was killed in a shooting in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side Monday night, police said.
The 18-year-old man died after he was shot in the head about 8 p.m. in the 10400 block of South Green Street, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said, citing preliminary information.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting were not yet known.
Area South detectives are investigating.
Gun violence during the first half of 2013 has declined when compared to the same period of time last year, according to Chicago Police.
There have been 274 fewer shootings during the first six months of 2013 when compared to the same period in 2012, police officials said in the statement.
That amounts to a drop of about 25 percent when compared to 2012, according to the statement.

A man was found shot to death inside of a Southwest Side home Thursday night.
A 31-year-old man was found unresponsive about 10:29 p.m. inside a residence in the 3600 block of West 64th Street, police said. He was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Area Central detectives are treating the death as an ongoing homicide investigation, and police said the murder might be gang-related.

The man was in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue when he was shot multiple times about 9:50 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

One man is dead and at least three other people are wounded after a shooting in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side Friday night.
Four people were sitting on a porch in the 2900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue about 7:50 p.m. when an unknown male approached on foot and opened fire, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
A 21-year-old man died a short time later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from multiple gunshot wounds to the body, Greer said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but declined to identify the man Friday night pending notification of his family.
