Police: Woman fatally stabbed in Avalon Park

A woman was fatally stabbed Monday morning in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood during a domestic dispute. The stabbing occurred at 10:15 a.m. in the 1100 block of East 81st Street, police News Affairs Officer Daniel Sullivan said. A 67-year-old woman was found dead at the scene, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. Area South detectives are investigating.

Police: Man shot and killed on Southwest Side

A man was shot and killed in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood Thursday night, authorities said.

The 29-year-old was shot in the head in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue about 10:30 p.m. He was dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death. No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigated. Further information was not immediately available.

Teen fatally shot on South Side

A teen boy was fatally shot in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 85th Street, according to police.

The 15-year-old victim was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene, police said. No one was in custody, though detectives were interviewing witnesses as of about 2:30 p.m.

Infant dead, mom critically wounded in stabbing at motel

An infant boy was fatally stabbed and his mother critically wounded at a North Side motel Thursday morning.

The child was found dead and the woman injured at a motel in the 5200 block of North Lincoln Avenue about 10:30 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

3 dead, 5 hurt in South Side shootings

Three people were killed and at least five others were wounded in South Side shootings Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Officers found the most recent gunshot victim dead in the 7500 block of South Carpenter Street after they responded to a call of a person shot about 6:45 p.m., police said. The man killed is thought to be in his 20s.

Police had no details on the circumstances of the slaying Wednesday evening. Read more

Man killed in Morgan Park shooting

A man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side.
Officers responded about 3 p.m. to the 11600 block of South Vincennes Avenue and found a man unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the back, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.

Police: Bodies of two men found in car trunk on South Side

Police found two men dead in the trunk of a car Wednesday afternoon on the South Side. Officers responding to a call requesting a well-being check in the 7100 block of South Oakley Avenue found the bodies of two people in the trunk of a vehicle about 3:20 p.m., police said. They were both male adults, police said. Area South detectives are investigating, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Autopsy: Person found burned in dumpster was strangled

An autopsy Monday determined a person whose charred body was found in a dumpster Sunday night in the Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood was strangled.

The person, whose gender and age are unknown, was strangled and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.Read more

Teen killed in Auburn Gresham shooting

A 15-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Thursday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 9 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Ashland Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs. The young man was shot once in the face and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death, but could not provide additional details pending notification of family. Police said the victim had documented gang affiliation.
No one is in custody and Area South detectives are investigating.
