A 45-year-old woman has been charged with hitting her 80-year-old boyfriend, Jay Williams, in the head, leading to his death in the fall of 2014 in West Englewood.

Tambra Davis, 45, faces a first-degree murder charge for striking Williams on the afternoon of Oct. 29, 2014, in his home in the 7300 block of South Hermitage, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

The couple got into a fight and Davis struck him in the left side of the face with an unidentified object, court records show. Another person in the home saw the fight and saw Davis running away from the house, prosecutors allege.

Antoine Crowder found fatally shot in South Shore

Antoine Crowder was shot to death late Tuesday in the South Shore neighborhood, one of at least four men to die from gunshot wounds on election day.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 2300 block of East 70th Place about 11:05 p.m. found the 23-year-old lying on the sidewalk unresponsive, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Crowder, who lived in the 8600 block of South Lowe Avenue, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m., authorities said.

Victor Navarrette was shot to death Tuesday night in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, one of four men to die in gun violence on election day.

The 25-year-old was driving an SUV in the 3200 block of West 64th Place about 10:40 p.m. when someone in another SUV fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Navarrette was shot in the head, then crashed his vehicle into a garage in the 6400 block of South Troy Street, police said. No one was injured in the crash.

Navarrette, who lived in the 3200 block of West 65th Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:54 p.m., authorities said.

A man was convicted Friday of fatally striking Shane Stokowski with an SUV in 2014, after the victim tried to stop him from driving because he thought he was too drunk after leaving a West Town bar.

Timothy McShane, 44, was found guilty of reckless homicide, failure to report an accident involving death, two counts of aggravated DUI and causing an accident leading to death, following a bench trial before Judge Lawrence Flood, according to Cook County court records.

Stokowski, 33; and McShane, then 42, who did not know each other but were having drinks with respective friends at the Aberdeen Tap at 458 N. Aberdeen St. on the afternoon of March 22, 2014, when Stokowski saw McShane get up to leave after being cut off by the bartender, prosecutors said at the trial.

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to gunning down Demarco Lyons more than two years ago in Englewood.

Nevada Hicks, 20, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of first-degree murder, according to Cook County court records.

Lyons, 22, was walking with another person in the 300 block of West 60th Place about 2:45 p.m. Dec. 8, 2013, when Hicks got out of the passenger side of a car, pointed a gun at Lyons, and fired multiple times, prosecutors said at trial.

At least 11 people were fatally shot in Chicago last week, and another man was stabbed to death as the city’s homicide total climbed to over 125 just 10 weeks into the year.

Sixteen-year-old Percy Julian High student Andre Taylor was shot to death Sunday night in the Rosemoor neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 7:50 p.m. in the 10000 block of South Indiana found the boy lying in the front yard of a home, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Taylor, who lived on the same block, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

A 22-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side. Ricardo Montes was on a sidewalk in the 3200 block of West Addison about 3:30 a.m. when someone opened fire from a passing SUV, police and the medical examiner’s office said.

Montes, who lived in the 3700 block of North Albany, was shot in the back and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died.

Man found fatally shot in parked car in Austin last week identified as 26-year-old Orlando Porter

A man shot to death Friday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side has been identified as 26-year-old Orlando Porter.

Porter was sitting in a parked car in the 7300 block of South Paulina Street about 9:20 a.m. when a black, four-door car drove by and a passenger inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Porter, of the 7200 block of South Wood, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

A man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for fatally stabbing his former girlfriend’s new lover, Elvis Canfield, in Humboldt Park in 2013.

Oliver Spann, 29, was found guilty of murder after a jury trial on Jan. 14, according to Cook County court records.

Spann and his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, 51-year-old Elvis Canfield, got into an argument on the sidewalk in the 3900 block of West Division about 12:20 a.m. Aug. 28, 2013, and Spann stabbed Canfield multiple times, authorities said at the time.

Canfield, who lived in the 1100 block of North Pulaski Road, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 1:04 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of a stab wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide.

Man fatally shot in car in Austin identified as 20-year-old Terall Adams of Plainfield

A man who was shot to death Friday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been identified as southwest suburban resident Terall Adams.

The 20-year-old was shot several times at 5:45 p.m. while sitting in a vehicle in the 800 block of North Latrobe Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Adams was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in Plainfield.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
