Around 1 a.m. Sunday, Dexter Barnes brushed past his brother and another witness in the gangway of the two-flat where his 69-year-old mother and 73-year-old father lived in the 1400 block of North Leclaire Avenue.

When the brother went inside, he found the couples’ bodies lying on the kitchen floor, a dozen knives scattered beside them, alongside a bloody mop and paper towels, Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Santini said.

Johnnie Ervin had been stabbed 11 times, and his intestines hung from his sides; a “portion” of his intestines were found in the sink, Santini said.

“I think the unimaginable facts speak for themselves,” Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. said at the bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse. “You will be held, no bond.”

Deandre Robinson was killed early Monday in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responded about 2:30 a.m. to a call of a person shot in the 1000 block of North Lawndale. They found the 33-year-old Robinson lying face down on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Robinson, 33, of the Austin neighborhood, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Joseph Henderson was killed early Monday in a drive-by shooting in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 25-year-old Henderson, known as “Bossman Jo Jo,” was walking about 1:45 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Kildare, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A black-colored car pulled up and someone inside fired shots in his direction, police said.

Henderson was struck in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:11 a.m., authorities said.

Henderson, who lived in the South Chicago neighborhood, was the father of a young daughter.

Dexter Barnes, 47, faces two felony counts of first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police. A police source said the victims were his parents.

“They didn’t bother no one,” said a neighbor, one of more than a dozen people gathered on the block outside the crime scene early Sunday.

About 1:10 a.m. Sunday morning, one of the couple’s three sons returned home to the 1400 block of North LeClaire and found his parents with multiple stab wounds to their bodies, authorities said. He then called police.

His parents—69-year-old Shirley Ervin and 67-year-old Johnnie Ervin—were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Autopsies Monday found both died of multiple sharp force injuries, and their deaths were ruled homicides.

Sixteen-year-old Jaquarius Davis was killed Sunday evening in a drive-by shooting on the block where he lived in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Jaquarius was standing outside at 7:23 p.m. when a red four-door car drove up in the 1200 block of South Avers, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone inside fired shots and the boy was hit, police said.

Jaquarius was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:56 p.m., authorities said. He lived on the block where he was shot.

An autopsy Monday showed he died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Christian Kihal Fulgham was shot to death in what police believe may have been a road-rage incident Sunday afternoon in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The 27-year-old Fulgham was traveling in a vehicle in the 600 block of East 82nd Street about 3:45 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Another vehicle approached and someone inside took out a gun and fired shots.

Fulgham suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and died there at 4:23 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

The South Side Avalon Park neighborhood resident was a 2008 graduate of Simeon Career Academy.

A person was taken into custody after the shooting, but was later released without being charged, police said.

Raven Lemons was shot to death while celebrating her birthday early Sunday near the Ohio Street Beach in the Streeterville neighborhood on the Near North Side, but she may not have been the shooter’s intended target.

The 25-year-old Lemons was standing on the street with an acquaintance about 2:40 a.m. in the 500 block of East Ohio near the pedestrian tunnel to the lakefront, according to Chicago Police.

Then someone started shooting.

Lemons was struck in the head, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She died there at 3:13 a.m.

Several stray bullets from the shooting struck the windows of a nearby condo building and furniture store, but no other injuries were reported.

Lemons, who lived in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood, was not believed to be the intended target. Police said they were looking for a known individual who may have been the target.

Her online profile said she worked as a bartender.

Three men were standing in the front yard of a home Friday night in the South Side Englewood neighborhood when three others started shooting, leaving Nicholas Smith dead and two other men wounded.

About 11:45 p.m., the three victims were standing in front of a home in the 5900 block of South Union when three gunmen walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

Smith, 25, was shot repeatedly and died at the scene at 11:54 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

A 23-year-old man shot in the chest was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital; and a 29-year-old man shot in the right leg was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

No one was in custody for the shooting early Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Tiara Viramontes died Sunday afternoon, more than 12 hours after she and a man were shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Viramontes and the 30-year-old man were in the back of a building at 4:48 a.m. in the 3500 block of West Huron, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone opened fire and the girl was shot in the back of the head. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. She lived on the same block as the shooting.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the upper right leg and was also taken to Stroger, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Tiara was a student at Marine Leadership Academy, where she played on the basketball and softball teams.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to hep the family with funeral expenses.

On the page, her mother, Cynthia Pagan, wrote: Tiara was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, niece, and loved by many. Tiara was very full of life and if you ever met her you wouldn’t forget her.”

The GoFundMe page had raised more than $3,300 in 16 hours toward a goal of $7,500.

The death of 3-year-old Jazebel Aleman early Sunday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side has been ruled a homicide, and police say a person is in custody.

Police investigate after a 3-year-old girl was found with fatal wounds inside her home in Little Village.

The girl, identified as Jazebel, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:26 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Officials there spelled the girl’s name Jezipel

An autopsy Sunday found she died of multiple injuries from an assault, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Central detectives have one person in custody, and charges are pending, police said.
