Jeremiah M. Holt faces charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Illinois State Police.

Just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Holt got out of a vehicle on the Chinatown feeder ramp off I-90/94 and fired into another vehicle on the ramp, state police said.

The 28-year-old Scullark was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:24 p.m., and another man in his vehicle was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy found Scullark died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Ryan D. Thornton was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

The 30-year-old was sitting in a vehicle at 12:33 p.m. in the 400 block of East Garfield, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Another vehicle pulled up alongside and someone inside fired shots, police said.

Thornton was shot in the left cheek, left hip and left side of his body; and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2 p.m., authorities said.

The Kenwood Academy High School alumnus lived in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Fredrick Stewart was fatally shot Saturday evening while walking in the South Shore neighborhood.

Just after 6:30 p.m., a male walked up to the 26-year-old Stewart in the 2800 block of East 76th Street and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Stewart was hit in the left eye and lower back before the assailant before the assailant ran away.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:13 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. Stewart’s home address was unknown.

Armani Horton was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting Friday night in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened at 7:06 p.m. inside a building in the 6500 block of South King Drive, according to Chicago Police.

The 18-year-old Horton was shot in the upper back, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died at 7:54 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

A 25-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to a knee, and was also taken to Northwestern, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

More than 15 years ago, Tromaine Bell was shot on the South Side. He died in February, and now, his death has been ruled a homicide.

Bell, 42, died at 6:32 p.m. Feb. 1 at Kindred Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy did not immediately rule on his cause and manner of death, but has since found that he died of complications from a gunshot wound to the torso, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Bell, of southwest suburban Burbank, was shot on Oct. 27, 2001, in the 1100 block of West 51st Street, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Further details about the shooting weren’t immediately available.

Santwon D. Mobley was shot to death Sunday evening near his home in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The 22-year-old Mobley was getting out of a vehicle about 7 p.m. in the 200 block of West 61st Place when someone shot him in the hip and the head from an approaching white SUV, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Mobley, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m., authorities said.

Six more people were homicide victims in Chicago last week, including a Cook County judge shot to death in front of his South Side home, as the city’s epidemic of violence kept pace with with 2016, a year which saw the most murders in two decades.

On April 19, Chicago recorded its 171st homicide of the year, according to records kept by the Chicago Sun-Times. In 2016, the 171st homicide of the year was also recorded on April 19. However, the ciuty’s 172nd and 173rd homicides were also reported on April 19, so as of Friday morning, this year is running two homicides behind last year, which ended with more than 780.

The violence actually slowed down somewhat last week, as four of the six fatal shootings were reported on Monday, April 17, and just two others happened the rest of the week.

The most shocking crime of the week involved the judge, who was shot to death in an incident that also left a woman wounded early Monday in the West Chesterfield neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded at 4:51 a.m. to a call of shots fired in the 9400 block of South Forest and found the 66-year-old man and 52-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police. The man was identified as Cook County Associate Judge Raymond Myles, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Wilteeah Jones, known to her family as “Teeah,” was “so excited” about becoming a parent, it was all she talked about, her uncle Donnie Weaver said.

In the last few months of Jones’ life, “every day that’s all you heard, was [about] her being a mom,” Weaver said. “She loved social media, so she put up something every day about counting down to the day that she was going to have her baby.”

At her baby shower, “she was so excited, she was just glowing,” Weaver said.

Jones was pregnant with a girl and already had a name picked out: Maleah Keanna, with “Maleah” made by putting “Malik” and “Teeah” together, Jones’ mother Valerie Weaver said.

Malik was her boyfriend and the baby’s father, Malik K. Bingham.

Then the unthinkable: A shooting Feb. 22 in the South Side Chatham neighborhood claimed the lives of Jones and Bingham, and their unborn child.

The man who threw the chair, 31-year-old Nicholas Brown, remains in the Cook County Jail, charged with the attack that seriously injured Brown. Those charges could be upgraded.

On June 7, 2016, Brown threw a chair at Everett at a nursing home in the 1500 block of South Albany Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The incident was caught on surveillance camera, according to police.

Everett was originally hospitalized in serous condition, police said. He was later moved to another nursing home in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, where he died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Wednesday found Everett died of complications of blunt force trauma to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Brown, a Bellwood resident, was arrested March 15 and charged with aggravated battery causing greatly bodily harm to a senior citizen, police said.

He remains at the Cook County Jail on a $150,000 bond, and is next scheduled to appear in court May 25, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

A man and a woman shot to death Tuesday morning in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood have been identified as Marcus Triplett and Jacquetta Pearson.

Triplett, 24; and Pearson, 22, were sitting in a dark vehicle in the 5100 block of South Halsted at 8:17 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A white vehicle pulled up next to them, and two people got out and fired shots, according to police.

Triplett, who lived in the same neighborhood; and Pearson, who lived in the West Side North Lawndale neighborhood, were both dead at the scene, authorities said.

Autopsies Wednesday found both died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspects drove away after the shooting.
