Jesus Juarez was killed and another man wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a popular Pilsen eatery late Tuesday.
Juarez, 43; and a 35-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk near the Express Grill Polish sausage stand at South Halsted and West 18th streets when a male suspect fired shots from a silver-colored SUV about 11:40 p.m., according to Chicago Police.
Juarez was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 5400 block of South Luna.
His body could be seen lying on the sidewalk covered with a white sheet close to the crosswalk, outside the Express Grill.

In what turned out to be the third fatal shooting in Chicago on Tuesday, Jeremy Parker was killed in a drive-by Tuesday night in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Parker, 21, was standing in the street in the 7400 block of South Maplewood about 9:05 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle shot him in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The car then sped away.
Parker, of the 7900 block of South Damen, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Timothy Hill died after he was shot Tuesday night in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
Hill, 25, was standing in the backyard of a home in the 600 block of East Bowen Avenue at 8:24 p.m. when a male suspect walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Hill suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 500 block of East 40th Street.
It was the second of four fatal shootings across the city on Tuesday.

Antonio White was fatally shot and another man wounded as they sat on a porch Tuesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood. It was the first of four fatal shootings across the city on Tuesday.
The men were sitting on a front porch in the 4900 block of West Monroe at 1:52 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
White, 29, was shot twice in the chest, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:37 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. White’s home address wasn’t immediately known.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the back and right leg, and was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Officers were called again to the same block later Tuesday to “disrupt gang activity” based on a tip from the community, according to police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. Three guns were seized and three people taken into custody.
Police said it was not immediately clear whether the arrests were connected to the earlier shooting, but Gugliemi said, “Officers likely prevented another shooting.”
Reckless homicide charges have been filed against the driver of an SUV that struck two pedestrians late Saturday on a busy street in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood near Midway Airport, leaving Guadalupe Chavez Dean dead.

Patrick J. Brazel, 27, has been charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing injuries or death; one count of reckless homicide; one count of aggravated
DUI causing a fatal accident; and a misdemeanor count of
DUI, according to Chicago Police. He was also cited for failure to take due care for a pedestrian in the roadway.
About 10:45 p.m. Saturday, the 42-year-old Chavez Dean and a 39-year-old man were walking north across Archer Avenue at Lavergne when they were both struck by a red Jeep, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The driver left the scene of the crash, but witnesses got the license number of the Jeep and Brazel was arrested several hours later in the 5800 block of South Rutherford, police said.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with killing Deitrick Stogner when the they got into a shootout Saturday afternoon in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

Kashai Jones and the 36-year-old Stogner were shooting at each other in the 100 block of West Garfield Boulevard near the Checker’s restaurant about 1:20 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Stogner was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 4600 block of South Prairie.
Jones was shot in the left leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder. POlice initially said he was 17.
Jones, of the 1700 block of East 70th Street, was scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.

Sixteen-year-old Randle Young was killed and a 14-year-old boy was wounded in a West Englewood neighborhood shooting Monday night.

Young and the other boy were walking eastbound in an alley in the 7100 block of South Laflin about 9:35 p.m. when a male suspect walked up and shot them, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Young suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1300 block of West 73rd Street.
The younger boy suffered a graze wound to the buttocks, and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition stabilized.
Young was one of four people fatally shot in CHicago on Monday.

Police say Karina Soria-Bautista was shot to death early Monday in the Edgewater neighborhood, but the gang member who was in the car with her was not injured.

Soria-Bautista, 21, and a man were in a vehicle stopped at a red light in the 5900 block of North Ridge about 12:55 a.m. That’s when a male suspect got out of a gray car nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Soria-Bautista, of the 4900 block of North Rockwell, was shot in the head and was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office.
A police source said the man sitting in the vehicle’s passenger seat is a documented gang member. He was not injured.
She was the first of four people to be fatally shot in the city on Monday.

A “possible offender” was in custody after Robert Roseneau was shot to death Monday night in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Rosenau, 28, was standing in front of a residence in the 2000 block of North Pulaski about 10:30 p.m. when someone walked up and shot him several times, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Rosenau, who lived in the 2000 block of North Avers, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:06 p.m., authorities said.
A “possible offender” was taken into custody after the shooting and a weapon was recovered, police said.
Rosenau was the fourth person to be fatally shot in Chicago on Monday.

Police do not know if Leonardo Betancourt was the intended target of the bullet that killed the 13-year-old as he rode in a car Monday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhoode.
Leonardo was in the back seat of a vehicle traveling north in the 4500 block of South Ashland at 6:34 p.m. That’s when the other people in the car heard gunshots, and realized the boy had been shot in the back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The driver took the teen to a firehouse a block north in the 4400 block of South Ashland, authorities said.
Leonardo was then taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:34 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 4500 block of South Hermitage.
It was not immediately known if the teen was the intended target, police said.
