Bruce Williams was fatally shot Monday evening in a gangway near his home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Williams, 36, was in a gangway in the 4100 block of West Potomac at 7:26 p.m. when another male walked up with a gun, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Williams was shot in the head, and was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. He was pronounced dead there at 7:34 p.m., authorities said.
He lived on the same block where he was shot.

Tiara Goodman, better known to friends as Chiquita, was found shot to death on Memorial Day in her South Side Bronzeville neighborhood, along with her ex-boyfriend, who authorities say killed her before taking his own life.
Goodman, 25, and the 32-year-old man were found about 10:50 a.m. in the hallway of an apartment building in the 2900 block of South State Street in the Dearborn Homes housing project, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The medical examiner’s office has not released the man’s name, saying family has yet to be notified. But friends and family members have identified him as Marcel Davis.
Both had been shot in the head and were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A gun was recovered at the scene.
Autopsies Tuesday ruled Goodman’s death a homicide, and the man’s death a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office. Goodman lived on the same block as the shooting.
Goodman was a studying Fashion Design at The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago.

The man suspected of fatally shooting
Shantae M. Nevith during a domestic-related incident Sunday afternoon in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side later shot himself in the head, authorities said.
Nevith, 22, was shot by Charles Torrence Jr., also 22, during an argument at 12:25 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Lyndale, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Nevith was shot in the head and back, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:57 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy Monday ruled her death a homicide.
Torrence ran away after the shooting, but police said he was found at 7:34 p.m. in the 4300 block of West Carroll with a gunshot wound to the head that appeared to be self-inflicted.

The first of two fatal shootings in a span of about 15 minutes early Sunday in the West Town neighborhood on the Near West Side claimed the life of Mauriaze Waltize Cossom.
Two men, including Cossom, were walking on the sidewalk about 3 a.m. in the 200 block of North Leavitt, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
At least two suspects opened fire at them as they walked, police said.
The 33-year-old Cossom was shot in the back and leg, according to authorities. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 3:55 a.m. He lived in the North Lawndale neighborhood.
A 34-year-old was also taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg, police said. His condition was stabilized.
Less than 15 minutes later, another man was killed about three blocks west in the same neighborhood.

Young father Novajah “Vajah” Ringgold was shot to death Saturday morning on the block where he lived in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
Ringgold, 21, was arguing with another man about 11:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of South Throop, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
At some point, the other man pulled out a handgun and shot Ringgold in the head and torso, authorities said. The shooter then ran away.
Ringold was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
Ringgold was a father, but it was not clear how many children he had. He lived on the same block where he was killed.

Quinton Flowers died nearly 7 hours after being wounded in a shooting Saturday afternoon on the block where he lived in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
Someone walked up to the 19-year-old Flowers at 1:06 p.m. in the 5400 block of West Cortez, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Flowers was shot him in the chest and body, and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.
He was pronounced dead there at 7:42 p.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said.
An autopsy Monday found he died of a massive internal hemorrhage after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Edward Mason, described as a “kind” man who always smiled, was shot to death early Sunday in the West Town neighborhood on the Near West Side, just blocks from the United Center.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 3:14 a.m. and found the 41-year-old lying on the ground in an empty lot in the 1800 block of West Maypole, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Mason, who lived in the North Center neighborhood, had been shot in the head and chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:35 a.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said.
A man identified by family members and friends as one of the victim’s three children approached the vacant lot and collapsed, wailing. His father could be seen lying in the grass, only a few blocks from the United Center, which loomed in the background.

Anthony D. Galvin Jr. was planning to attend college this summer. Instead, family and friends will be attending a funeral for the 19-year-old, gunned down last week in front of his home in the South Side Grand Crossing neighborhood.
Galvin died Thursday, three days after after he and two other people were shot on Memorial Day.
About 11:30 p.m. Monday, the group was standing on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of East 74th Street when shots rang out, according to Chicago Police.
Three people were hit, and all showed up at Jackson Park Hospital.
Galvin suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 5:39 p.m. Thursday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A man has been sentenced to 47.5 years in prison for a fatally shooting 19-year-old
Andre Hunter in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood in 2013.
Iman Frison, now 22, was found guilty of murder on April 12, according to Cook County court records.
About 2:35 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2014, Hunter and a friend had just left a store at 79th and Vincennes when Frison approached and asked the pair where they were from, authorities said at the time.
Frison then pointed a revolver to Hunter’s chest in the 7700 block of South Stewart Avenue, authorities said. Hunter pushed the gun away, and Frison shot him.

Jamal Webb was shot to death Friday afternoon in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.
The 23-year-old Webb was outside about 1:45 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Champlain, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Someone got out of a dark-colored car, walked up and shot him, police said.
Webb, who lived in the same neighborhood, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2 p.m., authorities said.
