The man charged with fatally shooting Maurice King man Saturday morning in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood was caught driving King’s car later the same day, prosecutors said.

Anthony Culpepper, 18, faces one count of first-degree murder for the shooting of the 21-year-old King, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

King was walking to his car at 10:11 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of West 58th when Culpepper approached and fired shots at him, authorities said.

King suffered two gunshot wounds to each shoulder, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about half an hour later, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Culpepper was arrested six hours after the shooting while driving King’s gold Nissan Altima, Assistant State’s Attorney Julia Ramirez said at Culpepper’s bond hearing Monday.

Judge David Navarro ordered Culpepper, a resident of the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, held without bond at the Cook County Jail.

Juan Bahena Jr. shot multiple times and killed in Little Village drive-by

Juan Bahena Jr. was killed Sunday afternoon when he was shot multiple times in a drive-by in the Southwest Side Little Village neighborhood.

The 23-year-old was sitting in a car at 4:32 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Western, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone in a passing tan minivan opened fire, striking him multiple times, police said.

Bahena was shot in the neck, thigh and buttocks; and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 5 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the Southwest Side West Elsdon neighborhood.

There was no one in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.

Catherine Barnett killed, two others wounded when gunman opens fire at their vehicle in Chicago Lawn

Catherine Barnett was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting Sunday evening on the block where she lived in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Another person who lived on the Southwest Side block was also shot to death a few hours earlier on the South Side.

About 8:20 p.m., three people were sitting inside a parked vehicle in the 6000 block of South Richmond, according to Chicago Police.

That’s when a man got out of a silver vehicle nearby and fired shots, police said.

Barnett, 42, was struck in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:35 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A 37-year-old man was shot in the chest, and was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A bullet grazed a third person in the nose, but that person refused medical treatment and was “uncooperative with officers,” police said.

Barnett lived on the block where she was shot. Just a few hours earlier, another man who lived on the same block, Jesse A. Bennett, was shot to death several miles away in the South Shore neighborhood.

It was unknown if the shootings were connected.

Jesse A. Bennett was shot to death during a fight early Sunday in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

About 3 a.m., the 41-year-old Bennett was in an argument with another in the 2700 block of East 75th Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man at some point pulled out a handgun and fired shots, police said.

Bennett was shot in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. He lived in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

No one was in custody as Area South detectives conduct a homicide investigation.

30-year-old Anthony White shot to death in Austin drive-by

Anthony White was killed early Sunday in a drive-by shooting in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

About 3:05 a.m., the 30-year-old White 30 was in the 500 block of North Leclaire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An SUV drove past and someone inside shot him in the chest, police said.

White was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died about 40 minutes later, authorities said. He lived in the Southwest Side Lawndale neighborhood.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.

White’s cousin, who put up the page, wrote of White: “Anthony was a kindhearted, loving and positive individual who put a smile on everyone’s face. We are all in disbelief that he has left us so soon, leaving behind beautiful daughters, whom he adored.”

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

Suspect arrested and charged after Darrius Buckley shot to death during argument in driveway in Jeffery Manor

Darrius Buckley was fatally shot during an argument Saturday evening in the Far South Side Jeffery Manor neighborhood, and police immediately arrested a suspect.

Delton Bates, 42, has been charged with first-degree murder for the shooting, which happened in a driveway in the 9700 block of South Merrion, according to Chicago Police.

Buckley, 33, and Bates were arguing in the driveway at 8:47 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Bates allegedly took out a gun and shot Buckley multiple times in the head, according to authorities.

Buckley, known as “Debo,” lived nearby in the same neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Bates, who on the block where the shooting occurred, was arrested in the driveway about 10 minutes after the shooting, police said.

Bond was denied for Bates during a court appearance Tuesday, according to Cook County sheriff’s office records. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 5.

A pregnant woman and two brothers were among four people shot to death Friday night in Brighton Park, in the latest bloodshed stemming from an ongoing gang war in the Southwest Side neighborhood, officials said.

The woman, Ida Arvizu; and three men, Michelle Adrian Cano, Joel Sandoval, and his brother Miguel Sandoval were found in a car by officers responding to a call of shots fired about 8:35 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Fairfield, according to Chicago Police.

Ald. Ray Lopez said her mother confirmed to authorities that the 28-year-old Arvizu, who worked as a dental hygienist, was pregnant when she was killed.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help with funeral costs for Arvizu, whom the author said was 7 months pregnant with a boy to be named Reymundo, and also had a 7-year-old daughter, Jaelyn.

Friends said Joel Sandoval was Arvizu’s ex-boyfriend and the father of both children.

Arvizu, 24-year-old Joel Sandoval, 27-year-old Miguel Sandoval, and the 21-year-old Cano, who was known as “Kano,” all suffered multiple gunshot wounds and their deaths were ruled homicides.

Maurice King shot to death while walking to his vehicle near his home in Gage Park

Maurice King was killed in a shooting Saturday morning near his home in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 21-year-old King was walking to his vehicle at 10:11 a.m. in the 2500 block of West 58th Street, according to Chicago Police.

A man approached and fired multiple shots at him, police said.

King suffered two gunshot wounds to each shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:49 a.m., police said.

Micah Brown killed in drive-by shooting in Marquette Park

Micah Brown was shot to death Friday morning in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired at 11:14 a.m. found the 23-year-old lying unresponsive in the 6400 block of South Talman, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He had been shot in the chest by someone in a passing vehicle, police said.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:28 a.m., and his body was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, authorities said. He lived in the Gresham neighborhood.

An autopsy Saturday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

24-year-old Dantrell Morgan found shot to death in Englewood

Dantrell Marquell Morgan was found shot to death early Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 2:09 a.m. and found the 24-year-old in a grassy area of the sidewalk in the 7100 block of South Carpenter, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He had been shot in the left side of his body.

Morgan was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:28 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
