Mother of two Natalia Ramirez fatally shot, two men wounded while sitting in vehicle in Brighton Park

Natalia Ramirez, 27-year-old mother of two, was killed and two men were wounded in a shooting early Sunday in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 3:15 a.m., the three victims were inside a vehicle parked in the 3800 block of South St. Louis. Another car pulled up, and a gunman got out and fired at least 16 shots into the vehicle before driving away, according to Chicago Police.

Ramirez was shot in the head, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she died at 4:02 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She lived in the 3000 block of South Princeton.

A 22-year-old man who was shot in the back was also taken to Mount Sinai, police said. And a 28-year-old man was shot in the hip, and was taken to Stroger Hospital. Both of their conditions had stabilized.

16-year-old Diabolique Anderson dies two days after being shot in Englewood by group in SUV

Sixteen-year-old Diabolique Anderson died Friday afternoon, two days after he was shot in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers found the teen about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on a sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Green with gunshot wounds to the head and thigh, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Witnesses saw four males take off in a black SUV after the shooting.

Anderson was pronounced dead at 2:28 p.m. Friday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived less than a mile away in the 100 block of East 68th Street.

An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area South detectives were investigating.

Reginald Boston dies hours after being stabbed by someone he knew in South Chicago

Reginald Boston died Sunday, about three hours after he was stabbed by an acquaintance in the South Chicago neighborhood.

About 4:04 a.m., the 26-year-old Boston was in a gangway in the 3200 block of East 91st Street. He was approached by someone he knew who pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Boston showed up at Trinity Hospital, and was transferred to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 3500 block of West 74th Street.

No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigate.

His father, also named Reginald Boston, was also stabbed to death in what police called a domestic incident in October 2014. The 44-year-old was stabbed in the chest at a home in the 300 block of East 48th Street about 6 p.m., authorities said at the time.

21-year-old Tremayne Henderson dies four hours after being shot on block where he lived in Fernwood

Tremayne Henderson was shot Saturday evening on the block where he lived in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side, and died about four hours later.

At 4:53 p.m., the 21-year-old was outside in the first block of West 104th Place when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Henderson was shot in the chest and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m., authorities said. He lived on the same block as the shooting.

20-year-old Armani Pickett shot to death, two men wounded in attack in Humboldt Park

Armani Pickett was killed and two other men wounded in a Humboldt Park neighborhood shooting early Saturday on the West Side, according to Chicago Police.

About 3:15 a.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired found two men lying in the street with gunshot wounds to the head in the 3900 block of West Thomas, police said.

Pickett, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:05 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 5700 block of North Talman.

A 36-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Another man, 42, showed up at Norwegian American Hospital with an arm wound, police said. He was in good condition.

Joshua Jones fatally shot by off-duty Robbins cop who claims he tried to rob him

An off-duty Robbins police officer shot and killed Joshua D. Jones in the Far South Side West Pullman neighborhood after Jones tried to rob him early Friday morning, according to Chicago Police.

“An out-of-jurisdiction officer was in Chicago and was involved in some kind of altercation,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Chicago Sun-Times.

The shooting occurred about 6:50 a.m. in the 12300 block of South Wallace, near Metcalfe Community Academy, where counseling was being offered to students.

The off-duty officer was walking towards his parked vehicle when he was confronted by an armed man who demanded his possessions, police said.

The robber took the officer’s keys and tried to get into the officer’s car when he was shot. The officer then pulled his firearm and shot Jones, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said the man’s weapon was recovered at the scene,

Jones, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived just a block away in the of the 12200 block of South Lowe.

An autopsy Saturday showed Jones died of a gunshot wound to the back, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The off-duty officer, a member of the Robbins Police Department, was not injured.

Dunbar Academy student Bruce Owens shot to death about a block away from his home in Englewood

Bruce Marshawn Owens, a 15-year-old Dunbar student, was shot to death Thursday night less than a block from his home in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Shortly before 9 p.m., someone walked up to the boy in the 6900 block of South Stewart, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The teen was shot repeatedly in the chest and abdomen, and the suspect took off in a dark-colored vehicle, according to police.

Owens was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he died just over two hours later at 11:39 p.m., authorities said.

Ownes, a student at Dunbar Career Academy High School, lived less than a block from the shooting scene in the 6900 block of South Harvard.

A north central Illinois man has been sentenced to 49 years in prison for killing Devin Common and wounding two other men in a shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side in 2013.

Quovadus Mahomes, now 21, of Dixon was found guilty Sept. 13 of one count of murder, two counts of aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle after a bench trial before Judge James Linn, according to Cook County court records.

Mahomes, who was 17 at the time, was arrested minutes after he gunned down the 27-year-old Common and wounded the others as they walked in the 7400 block of South Champlain on Jan. 29, 2013, authorities said at the time.

Quentin Perkins shot to death while sitting in car just a couple of blocks from his Austin home

A man fatally shot Wednesday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been identified as a 34-year-old Quentin Perkins, who lived just blocks away from where he was killed.

Perkins was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the 4700 block of West Flournoy about 9:20 a.m. when someone walked up and fired several shots into his vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot in the abdomen and arm, and when he tried to drive away from the scene, he crashed farther down the block, police said.

Perkins was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived a couple of blocks away in the 5000 block of West Van Buren, the medical examiner’s office said.

Man fatally shot in Austin identified as 26-year-old Joseph Chess Jr. of Bellwood

A person shot to death Saturday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side has been identified as Joseph Chess Jr. of west suburban Bellwood

Chess was outside about 6:55 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Rice when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was shot multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died, authorities said.

Chess lived in the 1000 block of Bellwood Avenue in Bellwood, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
